Our family has used pinch a penny for well over ten years and has always been extremely helpful and trustworthy. My elderly mother in law was blessed to have Scott at her home helping her and answering all her questions and making sure everything was running appropriately. Now that we ourselves have purchased a home with a pool in serious trouble, have reached out for help. After numerous visits to our home from Scott and persistent work on the pool we finally have a functional pool. Thanks to everyone at the Inverness store for all there diligence.

The staff members at the Inverness store were very friendly and - I assume - attempting to be helpful. We went in with our water quality parameters already in hand and informed the associate that we had just finished filling our 14,000 gallon above-ground pool (no chemicals having been added yet). We were directed by the associate that we needed to add two full gallons of liquid stabilizer/conditioner (which contains 24.92% cyanuric acid). The ideal range for CYA in an above-ground pool using a sand filter system is 30-50ppm. This can be found on the CDC's website, National Institute of Health's website, as well as Swim University and several other reputable sites. She advised us to purchase and add WAY more product than was appropriate for our pool size and gallonage. This caused the CYA level to go up to 80+ ppm. That's TOO high and renders the liquid chlorine we also purchased virtually ineffective. When I called and spoke to someone, she said that 30-100 ppm CYA is fine, according to what THEY recommend. That's completely bogus and ends up costing folks more money, more time, and more heartache. She also sold us 4-in-1 chlorine tabs that contain additional stabilizer, so what gives? Now, I have to partially drain my pool to dilute it to get the CYA at a reasonable level, add more metal treatment (because we're using well water with a hose filter we also purchased from your store; this costs me to run my well pump non-stop AGAIN), and add more chlorine to compensate for what was lost and in chlorine "lock" because of the high CYA. It also costs me my time, my energy, and absolute frustration. The person I spoke to wasn't even marginally understanding or apologetic. She just rationalized what we were sold and told to do and said we ended up on the high side, but it's within the acceptable range. Exposure to high CYA levels and high chlorine are both known to cause skin irritation. There's a reason everyone ELSE out there recommends 30-50 ppm as the ideal range for sand filter pools. Why would you do this to new and inexperienced pool owners just to make a few extra dollars, and then act totally complacent about it? I appreciate that the associate was initially very nice, but her recommendation wasn't correct and it's costing us a lot more than it should have.

For the past 4 moths now Cody has been doing our pool. i can not express enough how much we appreciate his dedication to his job. in todays world that's rare. he always talks to me and asks how my day is going. points out things that need attention and has help me on other non related pool issues as i can't get around like i used to. Scott did a good by putting Cody on the pay roll.

Ok,
So I’ll start by saying this was my very first visit to this location. I can assure you it will be my last. I brought my water in to get tested because I just happen to be in the area. When the lady took my water sample there was another younger woman testing right next to her. I hear the lady testing my water tell the other girl “I just told the last guy he needed Phosphate remover at $50 a bottle” she said this while smirking/laughing. The other younger woman looked at her like you’re unprofessional. Not even 5 minutes later she tells me. Oh yeah, looks like your phosphate levels are high. Never once in 6 years has the Brooksville location told me this and I check my water every week.I didn’t say anything. I waited for my report. She told me I needed the $50 bottle of phosphate remover because it was blocking the chlorine. I’m sitting there in utter disbelief. Like are you really that stupid? She literally just 5 minutes ago right in front of me tells the other girl how she just sold someone Phophate remover that didn’t need it. She tried so hard to get me to buy it. I crumpled the report and stuck in my pocket and walked out. I didn’t catch her name but this was Saturday around noontime and she had dark hair, middle aged woman.

We have been using Pinch a Penny for weekly maintenance for over a year. Everyone is always so helpful when we go in to the store. Ryan comes every week and cleans and maintains our pool and does such a great job. We feel he always goes over and above in cleaning. We never have to worry about chemicals or regular maintenance because they do everything! It’s well worth the monthly fee!
