What a great guy! Pasco Camara Exchange is an honest to pudding camera shop right on Main Street in downtown NPR. They were very helpful in getting me get started on my new hobby without making me feel ignorant. That’s tricky and should be commended. They repair and consign. Parking is good. I brought in a bag full of unloved stuff in and was immediately greeted by a man coming from behind the counter to say, ”Hello!” He evaluated what I had and made simple, inexpensive recommendations. I was in and out quickly. The shop is small but then again, so are cameras. I bought a battery for an older Nikon and will return for filters next week. Better pics to come!! Thank you, Jim!

I needed a good used camera, they had a Cannon about 15 years old but the price was right. So far, and I only just tried it out, it’s been great. Even if it conks out on me, the price was so low it won’t be a big deal. The owners helped me personally, which is something like a flashback to the 1970s… Really nice people I hope they get an old Nikon, because I used to working with them. I think that if you have camera questions, they would be able to help you.

Honest Review – A Learning Experience at Pasco Camera Exchange

I recently took my lightly used Sony A7 III to Pasco Camera Exchange to put it on consignment, and unfortunately, I left feeling regretful about the deal I made. I want to share my experience to help others make a more informed decision.

First off, the owners are very sweet and kind people, and they made me feel comfortable throughout the process. The gentleman, in particular, was firm but reassuring in his pricing, which led me to believe I was making a fair deal. However, in hindsight, I should have done more research before agreeing.

Their consignment policy is a 50/50 split, meaning they take half of whatever they sell your camera for. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the selling price they set for my camera was considerably lower than what I could have gotten on the open market. Essentially, by the time the camera sold, I walked away with far less than what I had originally invested—or what I could have made had I sold it myself. Net take home was $425 albeit the camera did not have charging cables, and a spec of dust was identified on lens which required professional cleaning.

This was my mistake, as I was new to cameras and equipment sales, but I now understand that selling independently (via platforms like eBay, Facebook Marketplace, or even photography forums) would have netted me significantly more money.

I don’t want to discourage people from doing business with Pasco Camera Exchange because, again, they are kind and knowledgeable people, and their store serves a purpose for those who value convenience over maximizing profits. However, if you’re considering selling your camera, please research used market prices first and understand how much of a cut you’ll actually take home after the split.

Lesson learned! I hope this helps others avoid the same regret I experienced.

Talk about shopping local. The owners went above and beyond to help us with additional equipment for our daughter's camera (which was purchased elsewhere) and my wife's purchase. They were most gracious and extremely knowledgeable, the prices are competitive and the service extraordinary (forget about buying online or at a big box store, this is the place!). We are so happy we drove to another county to buy equipment and a new camera. Thank you! Thank you!

I’m so incredibly glad I made the drive from Tampa to Pasco Camera Exchange. I had email correspondence with Jim prior to coming out, making an inquiry about a particular camera that I was in the market for. I’m a complete newbie to the hobby and Jim was so kind as to suggest a camera for me and why that camera would be a good fit. I made the drive an hour or so later and met Jim & Annette. They made me feel extremely welcome and right at home, helping me pick out accessories, showing me how the camera works, giving a little history on the camera and making my first true experience into the hobby an absolute treat. I highly, HIGHLY recommend coming out to see them. Having a small business like this around still is so special and important - please support local small businesses and give them a visit!

Pasco Camera Exchange is the go to place for digitizing older media. The staff is incredibly helpful and they over delivered on their expected time of completion. They were organized and gave me a wonderful experience overall.

Pasco Camera Exchange also has some really unique pieces competitively priced for your camera needs. They even sell some gear second hand which makes for an even better price.

All in all I’m impressed with what they offer. They are simple and strive to do what’s best for their customers!

Jim and Annette were so helpful with my questions about my camera. So knowledgeable that I bought a 300MM lens for my camera. Very happy with this new lens. I also scored on a nice second hand Cannon gear bag that has worked perfect for my Astrophotography mount and lenses... I will be back soon for more gear! 🙂 Also Lucy was able to be there while I shopped! 🙂
