I went in today for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses. I visited with Dr Claboine. He was amazing. Took his time with me. Listened to my struggles. Asked clarifying questions. He was very thorough. And very pleasant. After my exam I met with Carlos who helped me find the perfect pair of glasses. He was patient and gave honest opinions. I left very happy and glad I picked this place for my exam and new frames!

Went to Macali on Monday for an eye exam and contact lens fitting. Left with samples and called office on Wednesday to let them know they weren’t working out. They didn’t return my call until Thursday and emailed me the new Rx (ones that I noted did not work out). Called back and was notified I would have to wait until the doctor was in on Saturday. Called Saturday and spoke to front office. Staff was dismissive and rude. Never received a call back before office closed for the day. Now I have to wait until after the weekend to speak with the office again.

A patient shouldn’t have to request a prescription four times after paying for an eye exam. Their customer service is abysmal and they charge more for services than other ophthalmologists. Do not recommend for your eye care needs.

Dr. Pickering did an excellent job. She was thorough and explained the results of the tests. The office staff was pleasant and knowledgeable.

Had been going to this clinic for a while, and it has really gone down the tubes. I got roped into these progressive lenses which I knew nothing about, and they suck so much more than standard readers. When I try to wear them for exactly what I went in for (looking back and forth between computer and an iPad in my lap for teaching), they make the situation worse and not better, and so I just leave them off. It's so remarkable that I have to hold my head in exactly the correct position to make anything clear at all, and then when I take them off it's better in all positions. They push you into expensive options that you don't understand, and they don't even try to give you an experience of what the lenses might be like so that you can make an informed decision.

Even worse, the sales staff deceptively loads your bill up with every option that your insurance will pay for, without asking you about whether you are interested in having any of those options. They add the warranty and every little bell and whistle without one single time mentioning what they are putting on your bill--all of these things raises your out of pocket and they are happy to make you pay that extra as they extract more out of your insurance.

Overall, I think this place is becoming not only less skilled at solving eye issues for patients, but also rather scammy. Sad to say I won't be back.

FYI Dr Macali has retired. last year he did my exam and it was wonderful but I felt the eye glass department was over priced and I didn’t feel comfortable with my experience. their new game is to automatically schedule you an appointment without asking you or requesting one, Their answer was that’s how they do reminders.

I cannot say enough good things about my experience today, the front desk staff & eye glass associates were kind and professional, the technician Kirk was so nice, personable, professional and knowledgeable. I can say all the same for Dr. Pickering, her love and knowledge of her career was very evident. Together the staff was able to quickly address and resolve my concerns.
