As I travel around, I always frequent museums that are local. It's a great way to learn about the community. Your vacation in. Well this little museum did not disappoint. They had a really good 20 minute theater presentation about the hurricane of 1935 that hit the middle keys. Back then they had no way of detecting weather patterns and most of the people there had no idea they were only hours away from death. There are several ancient relics in the museum worth seeing my favorite was the 9 foot anchor from 1733. I didn't take any pictures inside the museum because there are already many published. I did take a couple Videos outside because the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. It's worth the $13 admission.

What an interesting place! I loved the railroad history. The Art Guild of the Purple Isles held their annual member show there and will be on display through the first part of March. Go and vote for the People's Choice Award.

It's alright. Small- lots of reading and the storys are pretty cool but aren't very engaging.‼️ NOT TO MENTION I was very disappointed by the fact they are using AI generated art decals for the kids area... DO NOT SUPPORT AI ART!!! ‼️

One of the coolest places around, learn about the history of the Florida Keys. They have machines where you can read all about the history of our islands. They have events once a month that you can go to if you are a member. Such a great experience every time we go. Don’t forget to go upstairs and see the theatre and learn about the square grouper days!

This was an incredible museum with such a rich history of the Keys to impart. Apart from certain sections, I was completely unaware of how much history is in the Keys. From the railroad, whose remnants still line the highway, to the Native Americans who resided in this region before, the museum pays homage to everything.

Want to learn about the history of the Keys, this is the place... You can tell a lot of hard work has gone into putting all this information together, and acquiring all the artifacts, that you will learn about all the things you wanted to know about the Keys from the very earliest of days... Thank you to all who work here, the displays are shiny clean, and great to look at...
